A Message from the ITHF President Sheila Hart
Welcome to the International Travel and Hosting Fellowship for Rotary year 2018-19. This is the 30th year of operation for ITHF.
As an ITF member, you have access to the Directory of Members that lists over 1069 ITHF members worldwide. This Directory will be updated quarterly. Once you have found members that you would like to communicate with, you can go to the Member Profile to find out more information about the member and where they live. It is important that all ITHF members spend some time updating their profile. This is just the start of planning for amazing ITHF adventures; organize home stay visits; organize short visit such as a shared meal, a tour of a city, or a shared adventure whether it be exploring a culture, cycling, ball room dancing or geo-caching. Hosts local, District-wide and around the world are waiting for you to contact them to make arrangements. Make the first move to create a wonderful adventure.
An Introduction to Groups
In addition to Profiles for each member, the ITHF website provides homepages for Groups of members. These are similar to profiles, with photo galleries and a ‘wall’ to leave messages on. They include a page of links to all members of the group to encourage contacts.
The ITHF use these for members in a geographical area allocated to a Vice President. VP’s can use the Group to contact members allocated to them. Although new members are allocated to their local VP’s group, other members thinking of visiting the region can join that group and leave a note of their travel plans.
Groups can be used for other purposes and President Sheila has recently started the ‘ITHF Cruisers’ group for members interested in meeting up on cruises. Any member interested in joining that group should email Sheila.
If you haven’t come across them before, login and go to your profile. From the drop down menu on the right hand side select ‘Groups’.
More information can be found in the document ‘Introduction to Groups’ available from the 'Download Documents' option on the ITHF Members menu in the 'Information for Members' section.
ITHF members explore Nepal and Bhutan - 2017
The tour party:
Our ITHF Nepalese member - Tilak Thapa Magar, organized a tour package for ITHF members and their families. It started at Kathmandu with visits to World Heritage Sites before moving on to visit earthquake stricken areas of Dhading. From there the tour moved to the beautiful city of Pokhara with visits to important sites before returning to Kathmandu for a few days.
A tour of the mysterious land of Bhutan was available as an optional extra that offered a rare combination of peace and harmony amidst some of the world's most stunning mountain scenery. Based in Thimphu this option began with two days of sight seeing followed by attendance at the first Rotary District Conference ever held in Bhutan.
Uen Hua (Aircon) Chao and Janet Chao were in the tour party and have sent this report:
All participants enjoyed ITHF Bhutan/Nepal Tour. We are very happy to have the chance to explore mysterious Bhutan and Nepal. Thanks to our Nepalese member Tilak Thapa Magar, he made great efforts to make this tour possible, also thank to our Nepal/ Bhutan VP Sita Rupakheti. She has done an excellent job to make our journey more enjoyable.
